About the Role
Join a driven and inclusive team dedicated to delivering results at Scotiabank. As a Data Platform Operations Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting data platform governance and management by gathering stakeholder requirements and facilitating the application of modern data management principles. Collaborating closely with multiple teams, you will enable data-driven decision-making and contribute to project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze data platform trends, identify patterns and outliers, and suggest improvements aligned with recommended solutions by gathering and processing data from varied sources.
- Create data visualizations and presentations tailored for internal stakeholders to communicate insights effectively.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate these into actionable Data Platform Management features.
- Address automation and process enhancement goals defined by stakeholders, partnering with development teams for feedback and solution design.
- Coordinate with development and testing teams to ensure proper implementation of Data Platform Management functionalities.
- Adopt Agile methodologies to accelerate the delivery of data governance and operational management capabilities.
- Demonstrate product features during sprint reviews and stakeholder meetings to gather feedback and report progress.
- Assist end users in onboarding and provide ongoing support regarding data platform management capabilities.
- Maintain and update user documentation in collaboration with team members to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Data Platforms including Data Lakes and Data Warehouses, and involvement in analytics and data project lifecycles such as ETL processes.
- More than 3 years experience working with monitoring tools like Cloudera Manager and Grafana for platform oversight.
- Over 2 years utilizing big data technologies including Cloudera/Hortonworks, Spark, and Hive, alongside proficiency in data manipulation and analysis with Python or SQL.
- Ability to develop and enhance dashboards using visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including presentation capabilities to engage diverse stakeholders and gather feedback.
- Self-driven problem solver with the capability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem resolution competencies.
- Skilled in process documentation and workflow optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with data management principles is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Agile project methodologies and software development lifecycle in Agile environments is beneficial.
- Experience with relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL adds value.
- Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools such as Confluence, Jira, and SharePoint is preferred.
- Experience with Databricks platform would be considered an asset.
- Spanish language fluency for confident workplace communication is a plus.
