GIS Analyst

Job Overview

Pitkin County Library is seeking a full-time GIS Analyst based in Aspen, CO. This salaried role offers an annual pay range from $73,079.97 to $127,890.05 and falls under Pay Grade P105, with a hiring minimum wage of $35.13 per hour up to a maximum of $54.90 per hour. The position belongs to the Information Technology department and supports GIS data integration, enterprise database upkeep, and GIS-related IT projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and ensure the integrity of the enterprise GIS database and related applications.
• Develop and manage detailed documentation, particularly for address verification processes.
• Provide business analysis, procedural documentation, and manage spatial data for various County departments.
• Integrate GIS data within County software applications including coordination, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
• Assist with the addressing program by maintaining documentation, standards, and collaborative tools; communicate task statuses effectively.
• Offer technical guidance, assistance, and training to GIS users.
• Engage with the public and partner entities such as local governments and emergency services.
• Support the County’s Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) team in planning flights, operations, and producing deliverables.
• Exemplify courteous behavior when interacting with citizens and staff; maintain confidentiality and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Up to one year GIS technology experience required; more than one year preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required in GIS, Computer Science, Data Science, Business, Planning, or a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of experience and education.
• FAA Part 107 certification is desired within six months of hire.
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record is necessary.
• Profound knowledge of public administration, research techniques, fiscal management, community planning, and public policy procedures.
• Advanced understanding of geospatial analysis and GIS data organization and maintenance.
• Expert-level use of the Esri ArcGIS platform including ArcGIS Enterprise and associated geospatial tools.
• Strong communication abilities in both verbal and written formats.
• Capable of multitasking under pressure and in stressful conditions.
• Project management skills, including planning, executing, and overseeing projects to completion.
• Effective prioritization of workload to meet deadlines.
• Policy and procedural development and interpretation competencies.
• Excellent teamwork and relationship-building skills.
• Cartographic design, spatial data management, and analytic capabilities.
