Kitchen Assistant - Clarinbridge

Overview

Windmill Healthcare is hiring a permanent, full-time Kitchen Assistant for Clarinbridge Care Centre in County Galway, Ireland. The role sits within the catering team and reports to the Head Chef and the Director of Nursing / Person in Charge.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation and serving of meals and drinks for residents, visitors, and staff while meeting the organisation’s standards for hygiene and cost control.
• Set up residents’ meal trays and dining areas, making sure the correct utensils, equipment, and food items are available in the right amounts and on time.
• Clean kitchen and dining spaces, along with catering equipment and utensils, using the cleaning methods and tools instructed by the Chef.
• Guide residents on menu options so they have as much choice as possible.
• Follow all procedures related to hygiene, health and safety, HACCP, and COSHH, and comply with all relevant legal requirements at all times.
• Maintain records as requested by the Chef.
• Complete any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Skills and experience

• Strong communication skills.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is an advantage, ideally at least 1 year.
