Laundry Supervisor

Position Overview

The Laundry Supervisor oversees all laundry operations, including inventory management of uniforms and linens, and monthly checks of laundry supplies. The role requires reporting any faulty machinery, maintenance issues, and safety concerns to management. Supervisors are responsible for training staff on proper laundry procedures, safety guidelines, and the correct use of equipment. They ensure timely completion of laundry requests across departments and operate washing, dry cleaning, and drying machines efficiently while inspecting linens for damage.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain full inventory control of uniforms and linens.
• Conduct monthly inventories of laundry supplies.
• Identify and communicate equipment malfunctions and safety hazards to supervisors.
• Train employees thoroughly on laundry and safety procedures and equipment usage.
• Manage laundry requests for different departments, ensuring timely completion.
• Operate and monitor different laundry machinery including washers and dryers.
• Inspect linens and towels for any damages.
• Support management with recruiting, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, motivation, and coaching of staff.
• Adhere to all company policies including safety, security, and confidentiality.
• Report maintenance problems, accidents, injuries and complete safety training requirements.
• Maintain professional cleanliness and appearance of uniforms and personal grooming.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and prepare documentation accurately.
• Foster positive team relationships and assist in meeting collective goals.
• Identify and implement improvements in efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Inspect equipment and tools visually for defects.
• Meet physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and navigating challenging environments including uneven surfaces and confined spaces.
• Perform additional reasonable job duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one year of relevant work experience in laundry operations.
• At least one year of supervisory experience managing staff.
• No specific licenses or certifications required.
