Role Overview
The Mechanical Application Engineer serves as the primary technical contact between Visteon and its customers, predominantly focusing on providing engineering support tailored to evolving client needs. This role is heavily customer-facing and often requires onsite presence to ensure effective communication, issue resolution, and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main liaison for all technical program-related discussions, frequently interacting directly with customers onsite.
- Develop and sustain strong customer relationships, serving as the bridge between customers, Visteon product development, and manufacturing teams.
- Coordinate and relay customer feedback efficiently across internal departments including manufacturing and product design.
- Assist customers by addressing inquiries and challenges related to Visteon’s product offerings.
- Investigate and resolve issues or bottlenecks to guarantee consistent customer satisfaction while adhering to company policies.
- Provide dependable solutions throughout all phases of product development and clearly communicate information to customers.
- Maintain meticulous documentation and keep all project-related open items updated.
- Interpret and transmit customer design specifications and requirements to product development teams.
- Attend, facilitate, and coordinate a variety of customer meetings like Product Acceptance Tests, design reviews, technical documentation reviews, and software reviews.
- Gain thorough understanding of product and vehicle lines to effectively support customer demands.
- Manage part deliveries and oversee the development of prototype parts for breadboard testing.
- Ensure the provision of the latest hardware and software updates, including replacements or re-flashing when necessary.
- Communicate any known product limitations or exceptions promptly.
- Verify the condition of all parts prior to delivery and coordinate system module setups for software validation.
- Provide robust support for vehicle-level testing activities including in-vehicle and breadboard evaluations.
- Collaborate in creating deliverables such as test plans, user guides, and manuals in coordination with the requirements and software teams.
- Troubleshoot vehicle or product-related issues effectively.
- Engage actively in internal engineering forums such as whiteboard sessions, change control boards, peer reviews, and technical discussions.
- Support change control processes and manage customer-driven change requests.
- Oversee prompt resolution and closure of customer concerns through appropriate management systems.
- Initiate and manage problem reports concerning programs and warranty issues.
- Manage and deliver key customer deliverables including software releases, specification control matrices, open item reports, part number matrices, and vehicle validation plans.
- Participate in software re-flashing events, testing activities, customer meetings, and design change reviews.
- Maintain updated specifications on internal technical repositories as required.
