Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled PC Support Technician to offer onsite technical assistance at the DCAS Testing Center located at 149 Pierrepont Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201. This contract role spans 6 months and requires weekend availability during exam periods. The technician will handle the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software, supporting both Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS systems in a demanding testing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver dedicated onsite technical support for PC hardware, software, and peripherals at the testing center.
- Install, configure, update, and maintain Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS operating systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware, software, printers, and network connectivity.
- Deploy and configure desktop/laptop computers, handheld devices, and printers.
- Conduct routine system administration and provide end-user technical support.
- Evaluate hardware and software and recommend technical improvements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to meet project demands while minimizing downtime.
- Keep detailed records of technical problems and solutions.
- Provide technical support at other MTA locations as needed.
- Handle physical movement and lifting of computer equipment when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Between 4 and 6 years of experience in desktop or PC support or related technical support roles.
- Strong expertise in supporting PC hardware, software, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, and Outlook.
- Experience working with Apple macOS environments.
- Knowledge of Oracle client applications.
- Familiar with Active Directory and network equipment.
- Understanding of Ethernet cabling and TCP/IP networking protocols.
- Experience with Device Provisioning technologies like Windows Autopilot.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+ and Network+ are desirable.
- Knowledge of CAD software and interpreting technical drawings is an advantage.
- Ability to work autonomously in an onsite technical support role.
- Willingness to work weekends when exam schedules require.
