About the Company
Abdul Latif Jameel United Finance Company is a closed joint stock company regulated by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA). The business operates in financial leasing, financing of productive assets, consumer product financing, and real estate finance. It supports individuals and SMEs with options such as cash financing, vehicle financing for all car types, heavy equipment financing, household and electronics financing, and property financing. Role Overview
The Platform Engineer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and improving scalable, secure, and high-performance infrastructure platforms. The role supports reliability, uptime, and disaster recovery for critical business applications and services.
Core Accountabilities
- Advise on infrastructure and server hardware specifications during procurement planning.
- Take part in assessing and choosing servers, storage, and other infrastructure solutions.
- Create and support automation scripts and utilities using approved IT automation tools.
- Track system health, performance, and security, and turn findings into practical recommendations.
- Manage hardware delivery workflows, including inventory tracking and installation preparedness.
Infrastructure and Platform Management
- Set up and administer platform components such as servers, storage, networking, and cloud resources.
- Review data center requirements and confirm infrastructure deployment is ready for hosting.
- Collect business needs and translate them into suitable infrastructure designs and configuration choices.
Installation and Configuration
- Plan and carry out server and platform installation and configuration activities.
- Handle operating system installation, patching, and software setup in line with best practices.
- Run installation checklists and verify acceptance testing results.
Monitoring and Performance Optimization
- Observe infrastructure performance to maintain availability, reliability, and capacity targets.
- Prepare and interpret performance reports to identify upgrade or optimization opportunities.
- Tune platform components to improve overall system efficiency.
Security and Compliance
- Support adherence to security policies, standards, and audit expectations.
- Implement and maintain access controls, system hardening, and vulnerability management activities.
- Contribute to infrastructure and data center security initiatives.
Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Deploy and maintain backup solutions and disaster recovery procedures.
- Protect data integrity and validate backup and restore readiness.
Automation and Efficiency
- Build scripts in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate deployment, monitoring, and routine operations.
- Reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency through automation.
Operations and Support
- Provide day-to-day support for infrastructure systems and resolve incidents.
- Assist with root cause analysis and implement preventive corrective actions.
Documentation and Reporting
- Keep infrastructure documentation accurate and up to date, including configurations and changes.
- Prepare reports on performance, incidents, and capacity usage.
- Maintain records needed for change management and audit compliance.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a similar field is required.
Experience
Candidates should have 2 to 4 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or system administration.
Technical Profile
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux server administration
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V
- Exposure to cloud environments, especially Azure and preferably AWS
- Experience with storage platforms and backup technologies
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, and Bash
- Good understanding of networking basics
- Experience using monitoring platforms such as SCOM and SolarWinds
- Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery principles
