Product Manager

Overview

This role involves contributing to the design, development, and rollout of new features and workflows in an online research platform dedicated to clinical and cognitive research studies. The position focuses on enhancing the platform’s functionality in response to user feedback from researchers, study teams, and participants, translating these insights into actionable development requirements.

The Product Manager collaborates with multidisciplinary teams such as developers, researchers, and external partners to oversee the full product lifecycle from initial scoping through deployment and continuous iteration. Strong project management and organizational capabilities are essential to coordinate multiple concurrent studies and competing priorities across contract agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and manage project plans defining goals, deliverables, resources, and timelines for study launches and platform enhancements with moderate to diverse impact.
• Develop, implement, and optimize online research platform features and workflows in various functional domains.
• Translate researcher and study team needs into precise product requirements and feature upgrades.
• Lead technical meetings with advisory groups, study personnel, development teams, and internal/external stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress.
• Serve as a key liaison within Neuroscape and with UCSF and external academic and industry collaborators to ensure successful technology development and deployment.
• Identify enhancement opportunities based on feedback and prioritize them for delivery on the online research platform.
• Coordinate development team activities through the full product cycle, including quality assurance, deployment, and user feedback incorporation.
• Communicate platform capabilities and digital intervention functions to promote awareness and effective use among research teams and collaborators.
• Prepare and deliver progress reports detailing milestones, risks, and advancement toward objectives.
• Foster collaboration across academic and industry teams, adjusting communication to meet deliverable requirements.
• Conduct user training sessions and provide technical consultation to ensure smooth platform operation.
• Maintain and continuously improve thorough documentation including user materials, change logs, and release notes.
• Analyze and report key metrics and performance indicators to support data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, cognitive science, or a related discipline with at least one year of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• Strong aptitude for identifying organizational priorities and driving development of platform features and fixes accordingly.
• Research and analytical skills to evaluate product options and alternatives effectively.
• Excellent organization and project management skills to juggle multiple studies, tasks, and platform initiatives concurrently.
• Effective oral and written communication capabilities to clearly articulate information, document specifications, and foster team consensus.
• Leadership ability to promote efficient interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Skill in translating stakeholder and participant needs into development tasks that technical teams can implement.
• Experience managing the entire product lifecycle from scoping through deployment and iteration.

• Preferred: Advanced training in data analysis, product management, or digital health.
• Experience supporting or managing multi-study, multi-user digital platforms at scale.
• Knowledge of product development principles, project management tools like Asana or ClickUp.
• Familiarity with web platforms, cloud services such as AWS, Firebase, Qualtrics relevant to research workflows.
• Practice leading international collaborations and multiple study launches.
• Extensive clinical research trial experience, preferably over ten years.
• Working knowledge of IRB protocols and regulatory procedures in clinical/research settings.
• Ability to integrate technical and practical delivery needs for online clinical trial research.
