Position Overview
Openhouse is searching for a thoughtful and organized individual to join as a Programs Coordinator & Trainer within the Community Engagement Programs department. This part-time role (20 hours/week) supports direct community programming promoting health and connection among LGBTQ older adults in the San Francisco Bay Area, alongside delivering trainings on LGBTQIA+ topics. The position combines on-site program coordination with flexible remote training days, requiring occasional evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute both on-site and virtual programs to enhance community well-being and reduce isolation among LGBTQ older adults.
- Manage event logistics including promotional efforts, supply inventory, and technical support for virtual activities.
- Handle administrative duties such as tracking RSVPs through phone and email, updating program databases, and maintaining accurate records per funding requirements.
- Oversee community data entry and setup/breakdown of activity spaces.
- Deliver trainings on gender identity, sexual orientation, intersectionality, allyship, and related anti-discrimination laws using diverse instructional methods, in person or virtually.
- Collect and analyze feedback to refine training content and assist marketing outreach efforts for training programs.
- Fulfill mandated reporting obligations under California law for elder and dependent adult abuse, including timely reporting and documentation.
- Maintain professionalism through team collaboration, confidentiality adherence to HIPAA, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 3 years’ experience coordinating and organizing events or related activities.
- Minimum 2 years collaborating across departments to implement programs effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Competence in creating outreach materials tailored for aging populations, including flyers and newsletters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly adapt to new software and online tools.
- Strong ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
- Demonstrated creativity in problem-solving, multitasking, time management, and attention to detail.
- Experience delivering trainings or facilitating curriculum sessions.
- Preferred experience working with older adults facing cognitive and physical challenges, public speaking, and familiarity with LGBTQIA2S++ communities and related social or health issues.

- The role requires physical capability to travel locally within San Francisco and operate office equipment for extended periods.

Compensation and Schedule
- Part-time position at 20 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday.
- Program coordination compensated at $31.25 per hour; training delivery compensated at $38.27 per hour.
- On-site presence needed for program coordination days; training days may be conducted remotely.
