Purchasing Engineer - Electrical

Job Overview

The Purchasing Engineer will organize, coordinate, and execute all procurement actions based on received requests for materials, services, and assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage designated projects as assigned by the department manager in line with strategic plans.
• Request quotations from suppliers following specifications provided by requestors.
• Review and negotiate quotations to ensure compliance with purchase requests.
• Forward quotations and purchase order drafts to Project Manager/Business Unit Manager for approval or feedback.
• Prepare comparison sheets for procurement items and complete the purchase order cycle by issuing the purchase order.
• Compile daily status updates on purchase requests and review progress weekly with the manager.
• Conduct market research on pricing, delivery terms, and supply trends to assess current and future material availability.
• Identify and vet new suppliers to build a strong supplier database supporting present and future demands.
• Authorize purchase orders and initiate advance payments as per defined authority levels.
• Support Purchase Officers in obtaining Order Acknowledgements and advance payment invoices from vendors when necessary.
• Engage with Project Manager, Business Unit Manager, and Tender departments to address supplier feedback post-purchase order issuance.
• Issue formal responses to suppliers regarding comments following purchase order placement.
• Ensure supplier bank details on invoices match SAP records; if discrepancies arise, coordinate corrections with vendor creation team.
• Cross-verify invoices against orders prior to initiating advance payments.
• Collaborate with Commercial Section for timely establishment of letters of credit and provide approvals within authority matrix.
• Assist Commercial Section with preparation of biweekly foreign currency statements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of procurement experience in a technical area, preferably electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Proficient understanding of international procurement standards and Incoterms.
• Experienced in drafting and managing service contracts with awareness of associated tax and legal issues.
• Strong negotiation and communication capabilities.
• Familiarity with ERP and procurement management software.
