Role Overview
The Purchasing Lead is charged with overseeing all procurement activities across multiple warehouse sites. Leading a team of three purchasing officers, the role focuses on balancing cost-effectiveness, quality assurance, and timely delivery through both local and global suppliers. Maintaining inventory availability, fostering supplier partnerships, and meeting cost-saving objectives while sustaining service quality are central to this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and nurture the purchasing team to ensure high performance and development.
- Formulate and implement procurement strategies for both domestic and international sourcing.
- Create, modify, and finalize purchase orders based on system inputs and analytical judgment.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, quality compliance, and reliable delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with inventory, sales, and operations teams to optimize stock holdings.
- Collaborate closely with Finance to oversee budgets, forecast expenditures, and pursue cost reduction initiatives.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Over five years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing roles, preferably within related industries.
- Proficient negotiation skills to manage supplier contracts, pricing, delivery terms, and quality standards.
- Thorough understanding of purchasing protocols, inventory replenishment, supplier assessments, and cost management.
- Competency with Microsoft Office, inventory management tools, and procurement software platforms.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities enabling effective stakeholder engagement at various levels.
