Role overview
This contract position is for a Python backend developer who will contribute to improving next-generation AI systems through high-quality technical work and structured testing feedback. Core responsibilities
- Build, refine, and tune REST and GraphQL endpoints for backend services that need to scale well.
- Strengthen data checks, exception handling, and security practices across API and backend layers.
- Handle database schema updates, migration planning, and performance improvements when required.
- Test AI-enabled models inside Cursor and share clear feedback using incident notes, bug traces, and screenshots.
- Take part in focused 4-day testing sessions that examine how AI tools affect everyday development work.
- Work closely with the research team in Slack to share observations and suggest improvements.
- Complete post-session surveys with detailed input on model behavior and the developer experience.
Requirements and qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional backend development experience, with strong Python skills.
- Solid experience creating and supporting RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Strong command of backend validation, error management, and API security fundamentals.
- Practical experience with database migrations, schema design, and tuning application performance.
- Regular use of AI-assisted coding tools; experience with Cursor is a strong plus.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, especially for reporting issues clearly.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, private, and collaborative remote setup.
Preferred profile
- Evidence of open-source contribution, such as active GitHub activity or community recognition.
- Experience helping design or assess experimental developer tools and workflows.
- Strong interest in AI progress and its impact on software development.
