Role summary

This is a full-time, on-site Quantity Surveyor position based in Bulawayo. The successful candidate will handle BOQ preparation and review, perform quantity take-offs, and assist with tender compilation and evaluation for projects spanning the company’s different sectors. The role requires close tracking of project expenditure, upkeep of reliable cost plans and forecasts, and preparation of regular cost updates that support informed decisions and budget control. You will work alongside project managers, engineers, suppliers, and clients to confirm valuations, administer variations, and ensure contractual and commercial obligations are applied correctly. The position also contributes to procurement support, contract administration, and ongoing improvements in cost-control practices and project profitability.

Key duties

• Prepare and assess Bills of Quantities and measurement records with accuracy.
• Carry out quantity take-offs for project estimating and planning.
• Support tender preparation and participate in tender analysis and evaluation.
• Track project costs and compare expenditure against approved budgets.
• Maintain cost plans, forecasts, and financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
• Produce clear cost reports for internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and clients on valuations and variations.
• Help ensure contract and commercial terms are implemented properly.
• Assist with procurement activities and contract administration.
• Contribute to improved cost management processes and stronger project margins.

Requirements

• Proven ability to manage costs and keep projects within approved budgets.
• Hands-on experience preparing, checking, and analysing BOQs and measurement documents.
• Solid capability in cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial monitoring.
• Ability to prepare accurate and easy-to-understand cost reports.
• A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Understanding of construction contracts, procurement workflows, and standards relevant to mining, agriculture, or industrial work.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel and quantity surveying or construction costing tools.
• Strong numerical ability, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills for work in multi-disciplinary on-site environments.
• Professional membership, or progress toward quantity surveyor registration, will be an added advantage.
