Senior Business Applications Analyst

About the Company

Finning Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Business Applications Analyst to join their Edmonton team on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Global Application Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring that the firm's financial application ecosystem effectively meets business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical requirements.
• Analyze application issues, data inaccuracies, and business workflows, proposing solutions to enhance system performance and user satisfaction.
• Collaborate with business and IT teams throughout the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering to implementation and ongoing support.
• Interpret data to aid complex operational and business decision-making.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical and support documentation for assigned applications.
• Monitor application health, promptly communicating and escalating issues as needed.
• Ensure accurate, professional, and timely information and reporting.
• Adhere to Finning's Change Management policies and processes.
• Ensure clear understanding of specifications and documentation among reviewers, approvers, and end users.
• Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks discovered through incident and problem management.
• Develop strong, professional relationships with internal stakeholders, maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
• Lead application sustainment, maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to identify innovation opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Business, Finance, or related discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience in business systems analysis, application support, or related IT roles within complex enterprise environments.
• Preferably experienced in supporting Finance and Accounting functions.
• Practical experience with enterprise financial systems like SAP Concur, BlackLine, SAP Ariba, HighRadius, or similar platforms.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Infor M3, SAP, or equivalent.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional business stakeholders.
• Thorough knowledge of systems analysis methods, application support, and SDLC.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid business understanding with insight into complex processes.
• Superior communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking capabilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Adaptability and resilience in fast-changing environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of IT’s role in supporting business objectives.

Additional Information

Finning offers strong career progression opportunities within finance, a collaborative and supportive team environment, and a hybrid working model requiring 2-3 days in-office weekly. The position includes a competitive base salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000, plus bonus and benefits.
