Role Overview
As a Cloud Migration Engineer, you will be responsible for transitioning AWS Lambda-based services to Azure equivalents in a detailed, function-by-function manner. Your main tools include Claude Code for development and claude_code_forge as a workflow engine. The role emphasizes writing specifications rather than direct code, authoring CLAUDE.md files for task breakdowns, and steering test-driven development by interacting with automated agents. Troubleshooting involves fixing the underlying harness rather than addressing symptoms.
Primary Responsibilities
- Convert Lambda functions (Python/TypeScript) to Azure Functions while maintaining existing business logic and API interfaces.
- Migrate database and message systems from AWS (DynamoDB, S3, SQS/SNS, Step Functions) to Azure components (Cosmos DB, Blob Storage, Service Bus, Durable Functions).
- Create detailed CLAUDE.md specifications and slash commands for each migration stream prior to any coding activities.
- Manage parallel migration workflows using Claude Code multi-agent systems and worktrees.
- Apply test-driven development by writing failing tests first (utilizing Pytest or Jest), then direct agents to achieve passing results.
- Use Claude Desktop and Cowork tools for documentation, architectural designs, and creation of stakeholder deliverables.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 6 to 8 years of professional experience in Python or TypeScript software engineering.
- Strong proficiency with AWS technologies including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, and SQS/SNS.
- Practical knowledge of Azure serverless offerings such as Functions, Cosmos DB, and Service Bus.
- Familiarity and comfort working with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, and agent-driven development methodologies.
