Overview
Become a pivotal contributor in enhancing HIV care delivery across New York State by leading quality improvement efforts in healthcare settings. The AIDS Program Manager I position focuses on elevating the standard of care for individuals living with HIV by managing the Quality of Care (QOC) Program within the AIDS Institute's Office of Quality Initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
The role entails overseeing program planning, design, implementation, evaluation, and quality enhancement initiatives across HIV clinics state-wide. The manager will supervise quality consultants and monitor HIV clinic quality management programs to ensure high-level healthcare delivery. The position involves direct operational leadership within the Office of Grants, Data Management and Quality, transforming strategic standards and resources into impactful clinical outcomes.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold at least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of five years' experience managing HIV/AIDS or related health programs in public health or community-based organizations. Alternatively, an Associate's degree with seven years of experience or nine years of experience without a degree is acceptable. Experience must encompass policy development, program management, staff supervision, and resource allocation. A Master's degree may count as one year of relevant experience.
Preferred Expertise
- Master’s degree in public health or related healthcare field.
- Minimum of five years in public health or healthcare administration.
- At least three years managing programs aimed at improving HIV medical care quality.
- Proficiency with advanced quality improvement methodologies, tools (e.g., driver diagrams, cause and effect diagrams), and performance measurement metrics.
- Experience in providing technical assistance and capacity building for quality improvement among health and supportive service providers.
- Knowledge of HIV, prevention strategies like U=U and PrEP, and harm reduction practices.
- Experience in implementing health equity and stigma reduction initiatives via quality improvement.
- Five or more years supervising staff or consultants.
Additional Information
This grant-funded position requires compliance with funding obligations including time and effort reporting and deliverables. The candidate must have valid authorization to work unrestricted in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not provided. The role requires up to 25% travel. The selected individual must reside within reasonable commuting distance of the official work location and be located or willing to relocate prior to employment in one of these states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts.
The work model may be hybrid, combining on-site presence with remote work depending on job performance and operational needs. Initial onboarding and certain business requirements may necessitate more frequent onsite attendance.
Compensation
The position offers an annual salary of $111,387. For roles based in New York City, Nassau, Rockland, Suffolk, or Westchester Counties, a $4,000 annual downstate adjustment applies (pro-rated for part-time roles).

Work Location & Schedule
