About the Role
Mars Cosmetics is seeking a proactive and results-driven Area Sales Manager to oversee the General Trade operations within a designated region in Delhi/NCR. The candidate must possess substantial experience specifically within the beauty or cosmetics sector and have demonstrable expertise in General Trade sales—excluding counter or Beauty Advisor-led retail environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve targeted primary and secondary sales goals through the General Trade network in the assigned territory.
- Oversee and assess performance of distributors, sub-stockists, and wholesalers; expand retail presence across various locations including chemists, cosmetic shops, department stores, and local general stores within General Trade.
- Lead and supervise a team comprising Sales Officers, Territory Sales Executives, and distributor sales representatives daily.
- Monitor and enhance vital sales indicators such as outlet reach, strike rates, product lines per bill, average bill amounts, and distributor return on investment.
- Implement promotional activities, trade schemes, and visibility campaigns to stimulate sell-out rates; ensure timely order processing, stock clearance, and resolution of claims with distributors.
- Keep abreast of competitor strategies, pricing, and regional market developments, providing regular updates to the Regional Sales Manager.
- Maintain compliance with company trade policies, credit guidelines, and distributor governance standards.
Required Skills and Experience
- Between 4 and 6 years of sales experience exclusively in the beauty, cosmetics, or personal care industry.
- Established track record managing and expanding General Trade business channels is essential; candidates with only Beauty Advisor background are not eligible.
- Previous roles should involve core sales or distribution functions (e.g., Sales Officer, Territory Sales Executive) rather than counter sales.
- Strong capability in distributor management, secondary sales tracking, and retail execution.
- Proven leadership in guiding and motivating a field sales force including Sales Officers and distributor representatives.
- Sales planning skills utilizing data analysis with proficiency in Excel and reporting systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout the assigned geography.
