About the Role

Laurent Bakery is a long-established Melbourne brand inspired by French artisan baking and the spirit of a neighbourhood bakery. With more than 30 years of history, the business is known for quality cakes, pastries and sandwiches served across its cafes. The Camberwell location is now looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Store Manager to join the team.

Role Overview

In this position, you will partner closely with the Store Manager in a lively, high-traffic cafe environment. The role suits someone who enjoys hospitality, leads by example, and brings energy, care and structure to a busy front-of-house setting.

Responsibilities

• Set the standard for outstanding customer service and demonstrate it through your own actions.
• Coach and support the cafe team so they consistently deliver a strong guest experience.
• Oversee service and workflow to keep daily operations running smoothly.
• Handle customer concerns in a calm, professional and friendly manner.
• Support day-to-day store operations while guiding and motivating the team on the floor.
• Assist with stock management, ordering, waste reduction and rostering to help meet store targets.
• Train and encourage the team to increase sales through upselling and cross-selling.
• Take responsibility for opening and closing the cafe.

Requirements

• Suitable for someone ready to step up from a Store Supervisor or similar role.
• Solid knowledge of barista work is required.
• You should be composed, practical and solutions-oriented.
• Ability to stay organised and effective during rush periods.
• Availability must be flexible, including weekends and some public holidays.
