Assistant Project Manager

Role Overview

The Assistant Project Manager will support the management of assigned Irish onshore renewable energy projects, which include onshore wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and solar installations. The role extends from the early project concept stages through to final handover to the Operations Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in leading and overseeing multidisciplinary projects, encompassing site investigation, preparation of specifications, tender evaluations, construction, commissioning, and project handover.
• Coordinate with internal cross-functional teams such as Development, Operations, and Commercial to ensure smooth delivery interfaces.
• Provide technical and project management assistance on- and off-site as required by the Project Manager.
• Assist Contracts Managers in developing scopes of work for contractors and consultants and aid in technical negotiations for agreements related to electrical and civil construction, turbine supply, solar EPC contracts, and engineering services.
• Manage technical advisors, consultants, and smaller contracts appropriately.
• Oversee coordination among main contractors during construction phases, including turbine, solar EPC, BESS supply, electrical works, and civil Balance of Plant (BoP).
• Serve as a liaison for external stakeholders, representing the company professionally.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies through effective communication with internal stakeholders.
• Prepare project progress reports as per Project Manager's direction.
• Monitor contractors’ progress against project schedules ensuring milestone achievement.
• Maintain accurate project records such as action logs, programmes, and risk registers.
• Identify and manage significant risks and issues, ensuring adherence to statutory and internal requirements.
• Ensure all site activities and construction comply with high safety standards and relevant legislation and align with company's HSE Management System.

Candidate Profile

• Preferred to have a degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated strong safety culture and extensive experience in construction management.
• Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental legislation applicable to construction projects.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary stakeholders, including local communities, landowners, and municipal representatives, as well as internal teams involved in project delivery.
• Effective communication skills for engaging senior management and contractors.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines with detailed focus and a clear understanding of technical and regulatory demands of renewable energy projects.
• Excellent interpersonal communication, report writing, and presentation expertise.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently.
• Resilience, determination, and persistence to achieve project success.
