Role Overview

The Associate in Fleet Operations will be pivotal in managing daily operations within Grab’s autonomous vehicle division under GrabRentals, a significant segment of the Mobility business focused on vehicle and driver supply. This role involves direct supervision of operational staff, depot management, vehicle readiness, safety compliance, and fostering effective communication between operations and engineering teams to enhance service offerings.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team comprising site coordinators, in-vehicle safety drivers, and field operators, ensuring safe execution of daily responsibilities.
• Handle driver/operator shift scheduling, attendance, and collaborate closely with recruitment and training teams for onboarding and training.
• Work with safety supervisors to confirm vehicle safety, operational preparedness, and maintenance standards are met.
• Bridge operational teams and product/engineering groups by providing actionable feedback from operational insights and challenges.
• Manage on-site depot functions including vehicle parking, charging, and staging to guarantee mission readiness, while monitoring depot staff performance and safety.
• Develop and track key performance indicators such as safety records and vehicle uptime, performing trend analysis to support operational enhancements.
• Create, refine, and enforce standard operating procedures covering safety, incident handling, and coordination activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
• Lead initiatives to identify operational inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement strategies for safety, scalability, and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma or Degree qualification.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in operations, fleet management, transport, mobility, or depot operations.
• Technical insight or hands-on experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or Internet of Things implementations.
• Strong leadership in team coordination, especially in shift-based operational environments.
• Excellent planning skills, particularly for scheduling, resource management, and daily execution.
• Demonstrated responsibility for maintaining safety standards and enforcing operational procedures.
• Competence in managing unexpected incidents with calmness and efficiency.
• Strong interpersonal capabilities to collaborate effectively with front-line, product, and engineering teams.
• Proficiency in analyzing operational data and KPIs for monitoring and improvement purposes.
• Flexibility to work on-site and adapt to shift- or mission-based schedules as required.
