Role Overview
Join Schneider Electric as an AVEVA UOC Lead Engineer where you'll orchestrate solution architecture and delivery for advanced industrial operations centers. This role demands expert leadership in designing and implementing AVEVA System Platform solutions tailored to complex operational requirements across multiple industrial verticals.
Architecture and Solution Design
- Develop comprehensive UOC architectures encompassing object model design, galaxy topology, and system redundancy with multi-site federation capabilities using AVEVA System Platform and Operations Management Interface (OMI).
- Lead complete design cycles including system configuration, galaxy planning, and integration of various applications such as analytics, GIS mapping, CCTV, ERP, and engineering data.
- Convert business needs and operational objectives into scalable UOC architectures by utilizing adaptable industry templates and component libraries aligned with sectors like oil & gas, power, mining, and smart cities.
- Architect data integration layers combining OT and IT sources like historians (PI System), SCADA (via OPC UA/DA, MQTT), alarm systems, and enterprise software maintaining compliance with IEC 62443 zone/conduit guidelines.
- Design control room interfaces and collaboration environments based on high-performance HMI principles (ISA-101), focusing on KPI hierarchies, role-specific displays, and abnormal situation management.
- Craft deployment strategies for secure settings including air-gapped sites, DMZ-hosted systems, and offline patching procedures.
Delivery Leadership
- Lead cross-functional UOC delivery teams through requirements collection, configuration, testing phases (FAT/SAT), commissioning, and operational transitions.
- Manage technical scope via planning, estimation, work breakdown, design reviews, and quality assurance checkpoints throughout the project lifecycle.
- Engage operators and stakeholders through interactive design reviews ensuring adoption beyond installation.
- Collaborate closely with client OT/IT, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams addressing server, virtualization, networking, and domain integration needs.
Practice Development and Pre-Sales
- Serve as the technical authority within the practice for UOC solutions in pre-sales activities including demos, POC development, solution documentation, and RFQ/RFP responses.
- Create and maintain reusable intellectual property like reference architectures, display guides, object template libraries, integration adapters, and operational runbooks.
- Partner with industrial AI teams to incorporate advanced analytics and AI insights such as soft sensors and anomaly detection into operator displays.
- Mentor application engineers to build proficiency in System Platform and OMI delivery capabilities.
Quality, Security, and Governance
- Ensure all UOC environments adhere to client cybersecurity standards and IEC 62443 compliances.
- Oversee configuration management, backup strategies, and maintain up-to-date as-built documentation.
- Define and monitor operational KPIs, alarms, and role-based visualizations integrating multi-site data into cohesive operational views.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, or Computer Science engineering.
- Minimum 10 years in industrial automation or operational software domain, with at least 5 years hands-on experience with AVEVA System Platform including OMI and multiple delivered UOC integrated operations programs.
- Proven expertise in integration technologies such as OPC UA/DA, MQTT/Sparkplug, PI System historian, and REST/SQL interfaces.
- Deep understanding of control room operations, alarm management standards (ISA-18.2/IEC 62682), and high-performance HMI design principles (ISA-101).
- Familiarity with OT infrastructure including Windows Server, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), Active Directory, thin clients, and network segmentation under IEC 62443 governance.
- Leadership experience managing multi-engineer delivery teams, including project estimation and design review responsibilities.
- Strong client engagement skills demonstrated through facilitating workshops, technical presentations, and stakeholder management.
Additional Desirable Skills
- Experience delivering projects in GCC with national oil companies, understanding their approval, HSE, and site protocols.
- Exposure to AVEVA PI Vision, AVEVA Reports, and remote/mobility operation applications.
- Knowledge of AVEVA AIM/digital twin technologies and 3D/engineering data integration into operational interfaces.
- Programming skills in Python, .NET/C#, or JavaScript for custom application development and configuration automation.
- Awareness of AI/ML operational applications such as predictive analytics, alarm rationalization, and LLM-driven operator assistance.
- Familiarity with the AVEVA CONNECT platform and flexible licensing models.
- Relevant AVEVA certifications in System Platform/OMI and Arabic language proficiency are advantageous.
