Role Overview
The Program Level CBRN Business Development Representative is a key senior position tasked with driving revenue growth and expanding market presence within the Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal entities. This position requires identifying, qualifying, and securing new business opportunities related to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) defense products. Candidates should demonstrate proven success acquiring DoD contracts and comprehensive knowledge of federal acquisition processes from requirements formulation through contract execution. The role demands strategic thinking and the capacity to establish and maintain influential relationships with government and military decision-makers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Surpass quarterly and annual revenue and profit objectives.
- Build and expand customer relationships within assigned sectors and new markets as directed by leadership.
- Maintain and develop ongoing collaborations with customers and vendors.
- Provide weekly sales opportunity pipelines, including quotes and orders.
- Generate market insights and expand understanding of the CBRN defense sector at both headquarters and program levels.
- Collaborate with customers to develop requirements for bids and contract proposals related to company equipment and services.
- Engage in travel to client locations, industry symposiums, conferences, trade shows, and exhibitions to foster sales opportunities.
- Gather competitive intelligence and communicate market trends, opportunities, and potential threats to the organization.
- Prepare price quotations and negotiate contract terms, warranties, and delivery schedules.
- Utilize internal systems proficiently for quote processing and order management.
- Recommend solutions aligning with customer needs and interests.
- Perform administrative tasks including report preparation, sales record maintenance, and expense documentation.
- Assist fellow Business Development Representatives as needed to accomplish tasks.
- Accurately process quotes received through multiple channels.
- Develop strategies to identify and engage new contacts within existing accounts.
- Implement coordinated inside/outside sales approaches including territory management and vendor relations.
- Conduct ongoing market research and support market strategy development alongside channel sales teams.
- Design and execute comprehensive business development strategies to meet revenue goals and expand the company's footprint in the DoD CBRN sector.
- Manage a pipeline of new business prospects and contract bids.
- Foster and maintain close relationships with government program managers, technical personnel, and key military stakeholders.
- Lead proposal development ensuring compelling and compliant submissions in collaboration with internal teams.
- Maintain expert knowledge of DoD programs, platforms, acquisition policies, and contracting vehicles including GSA, ECAT, EMALL, and Prime Vendor schedules.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, military events, and trade shows to gather intelligence and promote brand visibility.
- Provide accurate sales forecasting and regularly update leadership on business development progress and market dynamics.
Additional Duties
- Communicate effectively with management, colleagues, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and business partners.
- Manage all facets of the customer sales cycle including calls, emails, quotations, and order entries.
- Submit timely and comprehensive reports such as weekly sales, pipeline status, and expense reports.
- Maintain a professional calendar including sales calls, meetings, travel, and industry events.
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of government sales and federal contracting processes.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and perform skillful negotiations.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation aligned with corporate procedures.
- Capability to obtain security clearance if required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related technical discipline is mandatory. Master’s degree preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of proven experience in defense sales and business development, with a documented history of securing DoD contracts.
- Prior military experience in a CBRN-related domain is highly advantageous.
- Experience navigating DoD procurement and contracting mechanisms.
- Proven skill in collaborating with and influencing senior government and business leaders.

Physical Requirements
This largely sedentary role requires extended periods of computer and phone use, clear verbal communication, and attention to detailed information. Occasional standing, walking, and travel to customer sites, trade shows, and government locations are expected. Some lifting up to 25 pounds may be necessary.
