Job Overview

Maaloomatiia Academy is currently hiring an experienced Cloudera Administrator to oversee and optimize their Cloudera big data platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, and enhancement of the Cloudera CDP environment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability across all clusters.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and manage Cloudera CDP clusters whether on-premises or in the cloud.
• Conduct regular maintenance including patching, upgrades, and deployment of hotfixes to maintain cluster stability.
• Monitor cluster performance and resource usage while ensuring continuous availability.
• Administer and optimize key Hadoop components such as HDFS, YARN, Hive, Spark, ZooKeeper, and Impala.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to node failures, service interruptions, performance limitations, and misconfigurations.
• Implement and maintain cluster security protocols including Kerberos authentication, Ranger and Sentry policies, SSL encryption, and role-based access controls.
• Establish and manage procedures for backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Collaborate with development teams to support data workflows, batch jobs, and stream processing on the cluster.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
• Document the cluster’s architecture, topology, modifications, and operational procedures in detail.
• Develop and utilize automation scripts and tools (bash, Python, Ansible) to streamline cluster operations.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide production support and handle incident responses.
• Produce and update design documents covering low-level and high-level architecture and operational guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven hands-on experience as a Cloudera Administrator with expertise in CDH and CDP platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem, including HDFS, YARN, Hive, Spark, HBase, ZooKeeper, Oozie, and Impala.
• Experience managing large distributed data infrastructures for performance and reliability.
• Strong Linux administration skills across distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
• Skilled in troubleshooting cluster problems and fine-tuning system performance.
• Practical experience with security technologies like Kerberos, Ranger, Sentry, and LDAP/Active Directory integration.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell or Python.
• Solid understanding of network concepts, load balancing techniques, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is advantageous.

Additional Skills and Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
• Cloudera certifications such as CCAH, CCA Administrator, or CDP Administrator preferred.
• Experience with automation tools including Ansible and Terraform.
• Working knowledge of monitoring platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios, and Cloudera Manager.
• Exposure to data ingestion technologies like Kafka and NiFi is a plus.
