Job Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-focused Cost Control Lead to join our team on-site in Ras Laffan, Qatar. This role involves managing project budgets, overseeing actual costs, analyzing expenditures for EPC projects primarily within the Energy and Oil & Gas sectors, and ensuring that financial tracking aligns with established budgets and company objectives. The position demands close cooperation with project management and relevant stakeholders. Experience with ERP systems is advantageous, with familiarity in Yapıtaşı ERP regarded as a beneficial but non-essential asset.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and uphold cost control procedures for active projects.
- Track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts ensuring compliance with contracts and company policies.
- Extract and manipulate data from ERP software and Excel to produce consolidated cost control reports.
- Allocate project budgets to appropriate cost codes and maintain accurate definitions for cost coding.
- Generate and deliver periodic cost reports, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasts for management review.
- Assist project managers in identifying risks of cost overruns and support formation of remedial strategies.
- Validate and review purchase orders, subcontracts, invoices, and change orders related to cost tracking.
- Liaise with planning, procurement, and finance departments to ensure uniform and precise cost data management.
- Support financial closure processes including monthly and quarterly cost accruals and reconciliations.
- Develop cost benchmarks, historical data records, and lessons learned to inform future projects.
- Create and maintain comprehensive databases for cost and man-hour information along with benchmarking data.
- Maintain the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for the project.
- Provide timely advisories on potential cost issues to project leadership enabling early mitigation and corrective action plans.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or related disciplines) or Project Management.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in project cost control, cost allocation, budget estimation, and financial monitoring within EPC Oil & Gas, refinery, or energy sectors.
- Demonstrated analytical expertise to interpret complex data and generate actionable conclusions.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, Power BI, and similar analytical software; experience with ERP systems highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Yapıtaşı ERP is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong command of English, with excellent written and verbal communication and reporting capabilities.
- Good interpersonal skills including teamwork, collaboration, and strong communication capabilities.
