Role Overview
The college is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Data Analyst Apprentice to join their data, compliance, and systems development team. This role provides practical experience within the further education sector, supporting critical functions like funding returns, performance reporting, and regulatory compliance. The apprentice will undertake a recognized Data Analyst apprenticeship qualification while actively contributing to projects that enhance decision-making and improve data quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and updating dashboards and reports on attendance, retention, achievement, and destinations.
- Assisting in preparing performance summaries and RAG-status reports for internal governance and meetings.
- Supporting preparation of management information and evidence for audits, reviews, and inspections.
- Monitoring the quality of data and identifying errors or inconsistencies for correction.
- Understanding and applying funding and compliance frameworks including DfE requirements and Qualification Achievement Rates.
- Providing general administrative assistance to the wider team.
- Analyzing data using SQL queries, spreadsheets, and relational databases to generate supporting datasets.
- Participating in the Information Services Team and handling duties related to admissions and open evenings, including advising potential students; evening duties usually occur once per fortnight or weekly depending on the time of year.
- Processing enrolments, payments, and related paperwork as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and college policies.
- Collaborating with college staff to ensure accuracy of Individualised Learner Record (ILR) data.
- Performing any other duties related to the position's requirements.
Candidate Requirements
- GCSE grade 4/C or above in Maths and English, or willingness to work toward Functional Skills alongside the apprenticeship.
- A genuine passion for data, numbers, and problem-solving.
- Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to tasks.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Eagerness to learn sector-specific systems and terminology.
- Proactive, organized, and capable of handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- No prior experience in further education required; full training and support provided.

Work Hours and Conditions
Full-time position working 37 hours per week across 52 weeks annually. This is a fixed-term apprenticeship starting September 2026, conducted onsite at the Highbury Campus in Portsmouth, England.
Salary
Annual salary ranges from £25,410 to £27,839 (full-time equivalent).
