Data Engineer (Coding Agent Experience)

About the Role

• Participate in evaluating and improving frontier AI coding models through structured technical assessments focused on realistic data engineering workflows.
• Work involves completing and assessing complex data engineering tasks executed by AI coding agents.

Role Responsibilities

• Utilize frontier AI coding agents to perform and evaluate sophisticated data engineering assignments.
• Assess model-produced implementations related to ETL pipelines, data warehouses, analytics platforms, and distributed data systems.
• Detect bugs, handle edge cases, identify scalability challenges, and pinpoint potential failure modes.
• Compare results generated by various frontier AI models to evaluate their respective advantages and limitations.
• Employ professional engineering judgment in practical data engineering situations.

Time Commitment

• Engagement is sprint-based with project work completed in short 12 to 24-hour intervals depending on client needs.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in data engineering.
• Proven experience in constructing ETL pipelines, managing data warehouses, analytics platforms, or distributed data systems.
• Frequent use and familiarity with AI coding agents like Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, or comparable tools.
• Competence in evaluating model-generated implementations of data infrastructure and pipelines.
• Prior experience managing large-scale data platforms is advantageous.

Compensation

• Payment is $400 for each accepted task.
• Typically, each task requires 2 to 3 hours following an initial ramp-up period.
• Compensation is contingent on approval of the submitted work.
