Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all electrical systems associated with assigned projects.
- Coordinate with key project stakeholders including clients, design teams, contractors, suppliers, and sub-contractors to support engineering functions.
- Comprehend Design/Issued for Construction (IFC) specifications and drawings to fully understand project scope and supervise coordination for converting design data into installation drawings by BIM teams, ensuring adherence to specifications and schedules.
- Generate and manage Requests for Information (RFI), technical queries, and similar documentation.
- Collaborate with Project Manager and Safety Advisor to manage site safety, maintaining and closing out safety documentation as part of the management team.
- Partner with QA Manager to implement and finalize site quality assurance procedures.
- Work with Project Manager, consulting engineers, and clients to manage project schedules, ensuring engineering activities align with overall timelines, especially regarding procurement.
- Handle all aspects of the electrical package including team management, subcontractor oversight, materials delivery and receipting, plant and equipment, managing variations, and valuations.
- Supervise daily site operations ensuring compliance with Mercury's policies and procedures.
- Track progress and manpower of subcontractors, facilitate weekly meetings, and maintain steady information flow to ensure work continuity.
- Assist installation teams in managing quality compliance against relevant standards, oversee validation and handover processes, and manage construction work packs.
- Maintain Mercury’s snagging system by ensuring supervisors submit weekly punch lists and distributing snags to subcontractors.
- Provide labour hour information to time administrators for centralized tracking.
- Participate in site meetings, project reviews, engineering and planning meetings, and handover sessions.
- Complete all project deliverables, including Final Accounts, Operations & Maintenance manuals, punch lists, safety and QA files, re-location of materials and plant, and project plans, collaborating closely with site project manager and team.
- Issue weekly cost reports detailing orders, material arrivals, and labour.
- Maintain project information flow via an Engineering Task Log and weekly progress reports to both internal teams and external project managers highlighting completion percentages, risks, delays, and issues.
- Manage technical submittals and approvals effectively.
- Schedule and track material deliveries aligned with project timelines, managing procurement through Engineering Materials Reports including material take-offs and lead times.
- Keep a weekly photographic diary documenting project progress.
- Prepare subcontract and supplier tender packages alongside Project Quantity Surveyor and evaluate tenders for technical compliance.
- Drive adoption of innovative engineering practices to improve project delivery timelines.
- Oversee BIM priorities by supporting development of modular concepts, fabrication details, and isometric drawings, ensuring validation of materials/assets and effective change management.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers to promote their professional growth within the organization.
- Perform any additional related duties as required.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with established Mechanical/Electrical contractors.
- Strong organizational and planning capability.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
- Proven skills in negotiation, problem resolution, and decision-making.
- Proficiency with software tools related to engineering, including Project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM processes.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Effective workload management and prioritization skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of modularization and off-site fabrication techniques.
- Knowledge of High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) electrical systems.
- Familiarity with Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) systems.
