Role Overview
The Expeditor / Procurement Specialist plays a pivotal role in guaranteeing the prompt procurement, expediting, and delivery of materials, equipment, and services within water and wastewater treatment projects. Collaborating closely with engineering, project management, suppliers, and logistics teams, the role ensures procurement aligns with project timelines, technical standards, and contractual expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out procurement operations in accordance with project criteria, technical specifications, and allocated budgets.
- Prepare and dispatch Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to eligible vendors.
- Analyze commercial and technical bids effectively.
- Negotiate contract pricing, delivery schedules, Incoterms, and payment milestones.
- Issue Purchase Orders consistent with contract agreements.
- Monitor and expedite supplier deliveries to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain detailed expediting records and material tracking databases.
- Coordinate with vendors on production status, documentation, and shipment preparations.
- Identify potential delays and initiate corrective actions.
- Organize inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
- Collaborate with suppliers on revenue recognition activities.
- Engage with Project Managers, Engineers, QA/QC, and logistics for coherent project execution.
- Sync procurement schedules with project milestones and ensure adherence to approved vendor lists and specifications.
- Assist in cost monitoring and budgeting processes.
- Maintain procurement documentation and audit trails to confirm compliance with company policies and EPC standards.
- Support audit processes by providing accurate procurement records.
- Identify and manage supply chain risks, anticipate vendor-related issues, and escalate critical delays proactively.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 8 to 12 years experience in EPC procurement and expediting.
- Preferably experienced in water treatment projects.
- Technical expertise in pumps, blowers, agitators, valves and flow controls, instrumentation and automation, membrane systems (UF/RO), piping materials (HDPE, PVC, Steel), installation and fabrication.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.
- Strong skills in negotiation and commercial dealings.
- Excellent proficiency in expediting and follow-up procedures.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities concurrently.
