Job Overview
Join Margaret Mary Health as a Housekeeping Aide at their hospital Environmental Services department in Batesville, IN. This role is integral in ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for staff and patients across MMH facilities. The position includes a $1,000 sign-on bonus and offers the first shift schedule from 7 AM to 3 PM, with work every other weekend.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect occupied patient rooms using approved products and manufacturer guidelines.
- Sanitize unoccupied patient rooms thoroughly, including beds, ECG leads, blood pressure cuffs, IV poles, commode chairs, and dusting high and low areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and fixtures by disinfecting them regularly.
- Keep non-patient areas such as offices, corridors, lobbies, meeting rooms, elevators, and waiting rooms clean.
- Perform dry and wet mopping of floors as required.
- Spot clean walls, doors, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures.
- Manage waste by pulling trash cans and transporting trash to the compactor according to protocols, including proper disposal of red bag waste.
- Restock supplies like paper towels and toilet tissue in assigned zones.
- Use safety ladders correctly and change needle boxes when necessary.
- Ensure all cleaning solutions are properly labeled on housekeeping carts.
- Participate annually in a training session on trash compactor operation.
- Adhere to universal protection guidelines during cleaning tasks.
- Place wet floor signs every 8 feet when mopping corridors to ensure safety.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to management promptly.
- Properly mount and remove drapes and cubicle curtains for cleaning.
- Clean assigned interior and exterior windows and stairwells.
- Vacuum and clean furniture in designated areas.
- Maintain department equipment and storage areas efficiently.
- Handle biohazard and infectious waste correctly following safety protocols.
- Conduct room inspections following patient discharge cleaning and address any discrepancies.
- Assist with the use of germinator devices for isolating rooms and other areas needing germination.
- Follow checklists to complete work punctually and perform scheduled detailed cleaning tasks.
