ఉద్యోగ వివరణ
Role overview
This position combines HR operations with site administration for a U.S. research office. The role focuses on adapting headquarters HR policies for local U.S. use, maintaining compliance, supporting payroll and employee lifecycle processes, and keeping daily office operations running smoothly.
Human resources operations and compliance
- Localize existing HR policies from the China headquarters so they work in the U.S. while still aligning with group standards; this includes areas such as attendance, leave, conduct, and information security.
- Work with local legal counsel to keep employment practices, privacy handling, and workplace safety in line with applicable federal and state requirements, and help manage communication with government or regulatory bodies when needed.
- Coordinate payroll execution with headquarters and third-party payroll vendors such as ADP or TriNet to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Support employees with questions related to pay and benefits, while following the established compensation structure already in place.
- Handle employee onboarding, offboarding, personnel records, and HRIS data updates to ensure files and system information remain complete and accurate.
Local operations and employee care
- Manage day-to-day administrative needs of the research office, including workplace upkeep, assets and supplies, and coordination with vendors for IT support, cleaning, courier services, and similar needs.
- Support new hire orientation and help employees settle into the company culture.
- Plan and coordinate team-building activities, holiday celebrations, birthday events, and other engagement efforts that strengthen belonging and an open, inclusive engineering culture.
- Arrange support for meetings, cross-time-zone coordination between China and the U.S., visitor hosting, and internal technical exchange events.
- Act as a communication bridge between the U.S. team and China headquarters so both sides better understand each other's culture, policies, and practical needs.
Requirements
- 3 to 6 years of experience in HR, with familiarity in U.S. labor law and workplace norms.
- Background in HR or admin operations for a U.S. branch of a Chinese company is preferred.
- Basic understanding of federal and major state employment rules, with sound judgment on when professional legal guidance is necessary.
- Comfort adapting policies to local U.S. workplace expectations and cultural differences.
- Proficiency with office software and HRIS tools, plus basic data handling ability.
- Strong execution, ownership, and attention to detail; able to work in a fast-paced startup-like environment and manage many small tasks independently.
- Good service mindset and communication skills, with the patience to listen, explain, and build trust in a cross-cultural setting.
- Quick learner who can adapt to new regulations, policies, and business needs.
- Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English, spoken and written, is required.
- Candidates must already have legal authorization to work in the United States at the time of joining.
