About the Role
We are seeking a practical, mechanically skilled engineer to conceptualize and create mechanical systems for UAV platforms. You will engage in designing, building, and refining components, moving beyond theoretical work to hands-on implementation. This opportunity is perfect for someone eager to develop expertise in UAV hardware engineering from the beginning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical parts and systems for UAVs using CAD tools.
- Quickly prototype components via 3D printing, advancing from concept to functional bench prototypes.
- Perform hands-on assembly tasks including soldering and integrating mechanical and electronic parts.
- Conduct bench tests to identify and resolve design issues, iterating on solutions.
- Collaborate across disciplines, shifting readily between digital design and physical construction tasks as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Proven problem-solving ability demonstrated through previous projects; able to explain what you built, why, and lessons learned.
- Strong CAD proficiency.
- Practical experience in 3D printing, soldering, and hands-on assembly.
- A curious and pragmatic mindset with enthusiasm for building, testing, and iterative improvement.
- Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, with up to 2 years of work experience.
- Eligibility to acquire NATO security clearance.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with SolidWorks software.
- Experience in UAV piloting or familiarity with drone control software such as PX4.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including plastic injection molding and design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA) principles.
