About the Role
This field-based position within the Operations team supports environmental construction, demolition, and remediation projects across Western Canada. Candidates must prioritize safety, respect procedures and equipment care, and collaborate effectively in dynamic site environments. The role may vary between general labourer duties and torchman responsibilities, based on project demands and candidate experience, especially favoring those with demolition, reclamation, remediation, or heavy equipment operation experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport and handle construction materials, tools, and equipment onsite.
- Manually clear rocks, debris, and materials exposed by heavy machinery to maintain safe conditions.
- Implement traffic control measures including placing signage, barricades, cones, and directing traffic when required.
- Serve as spotter to guide equipment operators for safe material movement.
- Assist in water management activities at sites.
- Utilize hand tools and small equipment to clear debris and ready work areas.
- Excavate test holes, ensuring proper identification and protection of underground infrastructure.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments.
- Operate small to mid-size machines such as packers, skid steers, and articulated rock trucks when qualified.
- Perform general labour and construction tasks as assigned.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous work experience in environmental construction, demolition, reclamation, or remediation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of workplace safety rules and procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions, collaborate within crews, and handle physically taxing work.
- Willingness and capability to travel extensively across Western Canada for projects.
Mandatory Certifications
- H2S Alive certification
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- WHMIS (GHS) training
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification
- CSTS or equivalent safety orientation
- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Pre-Employment Conditions
- Successful criminal record screening
- Fitness-for-duty assessment with ability to lift 50 pounds
- Alcohol and drug testing
- Driver’s abstract verification
- Participation in ongoing company testing and monitoring programs
Work Environment & Hours
- Full-time, hourly compensated role
- Frequent project-based travel required
- Potential for extended hours, shifts, and weekend assignments based on project needs
- Work undertaken in outdoor and industrial environments under various weather conditions
Compensation
Pay is hourly and varies with experience and credentials.
