Overview
A client is seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to join their team supporting attorneys and legal professionals within a dynamic litigation practice. This role involves comprehensive administrative and litigation assistance, including managing documents, schedules, and deadlines to ensure smooth legal matter handling from start to finish. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, detailed, and capable of balancing multiple tasks independently while maintaining close collaboration with attorneys and support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and format legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, correspondence, and other case-related files.
- Organize and maintain both electronic and paper case files efficiently.
- Manage electronic court filings for state, federal courts, and administrative agencies.
- Monitor litigation deadlines and coordinate complex attorney calendars to ensure timely filing and scheduling of hearings and case activities.
- Assist with discovery processes, document management, and case preparation tasks.
- Facilitate communication among legal team members, clients, courts, and outside parties.
- Oversee document retention and execute file closure following firm policy guidelines.
- Arrange travel, registrations, conferences, and process expense reimbursements for attorneys.
- Handle continuing legal education (CLE) tracking, registrations, and reporting requirements.
- Provide backup support to teammates and foster a collaborative environment.
Skills and Experience Required
- At least 3 years in administrative or legal support roles, including minimum 1 year of litigation support experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management platforms.
- Experience managing attorney calendars, deadlines, and scheduling complexities.
- Strong knowledge of legal document formatting and court filing procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong eye for detail.
- High level of discretion when handling confidential information.
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in employment, labor, or civil litigation support.
- Familiarity with Minnesota electronic filing systems (eFile & Serve).
- Understanding of federal and state court rules and procedures.
- Background working with administrative agencies, arbitrations, or employment disputes.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $63,000.
