About the Role

Join Illumina and contribute to expanding genomic technology access to promote health equity worldwide. As an AR/AP Manager, you will lead the daily operations of both accounts payable and receivable teams, supporting Illumina’s Global Accounting Shared Services. You will play a vital role in ensuring financial accuracy and efficiency that impacts global health initiatives.

Accounts Payable Responsibilities

• Lead the AP team to ensure prompt and precise invoice processing, payments, and reconciliations.
• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to staff, fostering high standards and operational excellence.
• Drive process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce errors within the AP cycle.
• Address complex AP issues with strategic solutions, resolving escalations swiftly.
• Manage the complete AP process from invoice receipt, approval, entry to scheduling payments.
• Ensure supplier payments comply with contractual agreements and company policies.
• Implement best practices to optimize AP workflows aligned with global accounting standards.
• Oversee timely and accurate reconciliation of the AP sub-ledger to the general ledger.
• Lead the adoption of new AP systems and integration with financial tools.
• Prepare regular performance reports and present insights to senior leadership.
• Analyze AP aging and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
• Support monthly financial reviews and align stakeholders on AP risk and opportunities.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts.
• Lead special projects focusing on system enhancements, automation, and process improvements.
• Offer strategic insights on cash flow management, vendor negotiations, and capital optimization.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technology innovations.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives including mergers, acquisitions, and system upgrades.

Accounts Receivable Responsibilities

• Manage and enhance the AR team’s collection effectiveness, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
• Provide strategic oversight and resolution support for escalations within AR operations.
• Approve order holds and releases to maintain accuracy and compliance.
• Lead escalations for high-impact issues, driving efficient resolution and continuous improvements.
• Develop and train team members to ensure adherence to standardized AR processes.
• Spearhead special AR projects and cross-functional initiatives for seamless integration during organizational changes.

Travel and Expense Management

• Oversee the global travel and expense process, ensuring audits are thorough and timely.
• Serve as the global policy interpreter and champion policy updates.
• Support audit activities related to travel and expenses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• At least 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including a minimum of 5 years managing AR and AP within multinational settings.
• Experienced in managing month-end closing processes for accounts receivable and payable.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Prior exposure to SAP financial systems is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering presentations to executive leadership and various stakeholders.

Educational and Experiential Background

• Chartered Accountant qualification or a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability working in fast-paced corporate environments similar in scale and responsibility.
