Job Overview
As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in managing orders by picking, packing, and shipping customer products, as well as receiving and verifying inbound vendor deliveries and customer returns. Your careful attention to detail will help maintain exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations in daily tasks
- Operate forklifts and other material handling machinery to load and unload trucks
- Receive shipments by validating packing slips, noting discrepancies or damages, and accurately entering data into computer systems
- Identify and properly store special order and damaged materials
- Document shipping inconsistencies and manage freight claims in coordination with team members
- Pick and prepare customer orders by counting items and ensuring accuracy against shipping documents
- Assemble and pack orders securely for delivery or pickup, including managing Transportation of Dangerous Goods paperwork as required
- Report inventory variances or defective merchandise affecting service levels to supervisors
- Maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment by removing waste and informing management of safety concerns
- Assist colleagues in customer service at the counter and perform additional tasks as assigned by management
Candidate Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; higher education credentials are advantageous
- At least one year of experience in a warehouse environment
- Exceptional customer service skills and clear verbal communication abilities
- Capable of acquiring detailed product knowledge
- Willingness and ability to learn safe forklift operation and other equipment handling
- Strong attention to detail with accurate order processing
- Competency to learn and use order processing software
- Proficient in intermediate math skills
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with HVAC products is desirable
- Experience utilizing ERP or warehouse management systems like Infor M3
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Additional Details
- Annual salary range: $50,000 to $60,000 CAD
