Role Overview
The Materials Controller is responsible for comprehensive management of project materials sourced from Mercury, supply chain partners, and client-provided free issues from receipt through issuance. This role includes maintaining all tool and plant registers on site and coordinating with T&P management to meet site requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in weekly vendor meetings to monitor equipment manufacturing and inspection progress prior to delivery, alerting senior management of any risks that could impact results on job (ROJ).
- Track material order status within the supply chain and review partner procurement trackers to ensure delivery schedule adherence.
- Receive, measure, identify, verify, and visually inspect equipment, tools, and materials.
- Perform clerical duties including data entry, stock checks, counting, and filing.
- Adhere strictly to proper material receiving procedures on site.
- Ensure correct storage methods and preservation techniques for materials.
- Manage efficient delivery services to the project from the warehouse and maintain accurate documentation.
- Use company computer systems properly and accurately to manage warehouse operations.
- Commit fully to implementing procedural standards.
- Minimize external hire of transport, plant, and equipment; maintain up-to-date records.
- Reconcile stock and maintain traceability of issued materials following material issue procedures.
- Manage minimum stock levels and ensure their proper use.
- Record and account for any excess or unwanted materials returned from site.
- Communicate with site personnel regarding delivery discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain Health, Safety & Environment standards, complying with company policies.
- Uphold company quality standards aligned with quality system requirements.
- Follow the Material Control Plan for assigned projects.
- Identify opportunities and suggest improvements to enhance teamwork, efficiency, and quality.

Essential Qualifications
- Experience in material control or supply chain functions within engineering, procurement, or construction environments preferred.
- Familiarity with material control or supply chain systems advantageous.
- Currently pursuing or completed coursework/qualification in material control or warehouse management is desirable.

- Knowledge of materials delivered and related terminology.
- Capability to efficiently assess stock availability to meet field requests.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with site teams to meet requirements promptly.
- Attention to detail with adept planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage confidential or sensitive information appropriately.
- Teamwork skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and quick to learn procurement and material control software.
