Role Overview

This entry-level position supports the monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure in diverse environments. Guided by senior staff, you'll ensure optimal network performance, availability, and security. We provide training, certification support, and mentorship to facilitate your growth into advanced networking roles such as Network Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network alerts using specialised tools and respond accordingly.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues across LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
• Provide first and second-level support for network-related incidents and service requests.
• Assist with installing, configuring, and maintaining network hardware and software, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Create and update network documentation such as diagrams, change logs, and asset registers.
• Participate under supervision in network upgrades, patching, and configuration changes.
• Perform basic firewall and VPN setup under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to resolve issues.
• Stay updated on emerging networking technologies and best practices.
• Ensure strict adherence to security policies, standards, and processes.
• Contribute to the development of knowledge bases and team learning materials.

Candidate Requirements

• Familiarity with vendors like Fortinet, Cisco, Ubiquiti, or Aruba.
• Basic understanding of firewall setups and VPNs.
• Experience using network monitoring tools.
• Fundamental scripting knowledge with languages such as PowerShell or Bash.
• Awareness of ITIL frameworks or relevant certification.
• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Networking, or equivalent practical experience.
• Foundational knowledge of networking concepts including IP addressing, routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless tech.
• Understanding of protocols like TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VLANs.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows networking environments.
• Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
• A proactive attitude toward learning new technologies and overcoming challenges.
