Part-Time Marketing & Communications Operator

Role overview

AEON Energy is seeking a part-time Marketing & Communications Operator to strengthen how the company presents itself publicly as it expands distributed energy systems in island and remote markets.

This role is not focused on routine social posting. The aim is to translate real operational progress — including solar projects, energy software, project milestones, field delivery and founder thinking — into clear, credible external communication.

AEON designs, finances and runs distributed energy systems in environments where conventional energy providers often face execution challenges. Its main business today is distributed solar and storage installation, supported by an expanding layer of software and IoT solutions that improve asset performance and customer value.

The company’s website and public messaging have not fully kept pace with its evolution over the past two years. The business has moved from an early solar setup into a broader distributed energy operator with an emerging software capability. The goal of this role is to close that gap by improving website copy, explaining the work more clearly, turning projects into strong stories, and aligning public perception with where the company is headed.

What you will help with

• Updating website messaging and sharpening company positioning.
• Creating LinkedIn posts and project-related updates.
• Converting rough internal notes into polished outward-facing communication.
• Writing case studies and straightforward project stories.
• Supporting light PR activity and outreach for publications.
• Helping position E-OS products such as Deasy and Sentinel.
• Supporting a stronger public image that reflects the company’s current direction.

The focus is on clarity, trust and progress rather than producing high volumes of content.

What the company is looking for

• Excellent written English with the ability to communicate clearly.
• Quick understanding of technical or industrial businesses.
• Comfort working with energy, climate, infrastructure or B2B subject matter.
• Ability to turn incomplete notes into finished content with minimal supervision.
• Strong judgement and a preference for plain, non-generic marketing language.
• Skill in simplifying complex work without distorting it.
• A practical, fast-moving and independent working style.

You do not need to already be an energy specialist, but you should be curious and willing to learn what the company actually does.

What the company is not seeking

• A generic social media scheduler.
• A content creator limited to Canva-style assets.
• A brand strategist from a large corporate background.
• A fractional CMO.
• Someone who requires a large team or heavy day-to-day management.
• Someone who produces vague sustainability content without substance.

Working time and pay

This is a part-time freelance/contract engagement. The expected commitment is 10 to 15 hours per week at the start, with the possibility of increasing to 15 to 20 hours per week if the collaboration goes well.

Compensation is indicated at up to £2,000 per month starting salary, depending on experience, availability and output.
