Job Overview
This role involves coordinating plant operations by formulating and executing comprehensive production schedules. As a vital member of the planning team, the individual will develop, communicate, and ensure the timely delivery of materials and production plans necessary to meet operational targets and customer expectations. The focus centers on managing the build schedule in collaboration with team leaders and other departments while addressing materials and capacity needs proactively with program management, production, supply chain, and purchasing.
Additionally, inventory management and ongoing process improvement relating to material handling are integral responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Weekly review and update of the Order Action Report to reflect current status.
- Kitting allocation according to established rules on a weekly basis.
- Assessment of shortages and their effects on scheduling each week.
- Collaboration with Buyers to coordinate supply activities, expedite material deliveries, and address shortages impacting the production schedule.
- Daily communications with Team Leads and Customer Service regarding rescheduling or missed shipments.
- Issuing a rolling three-week production plan weekly to business unit stakeholders.
- Monitoring production plan performance metrics and distribution of weekly reports.
- Identification and reporting of capacity constraints and bottlenecks.
- Control of Work In Progress (WIP) levels to maintain agreed thresholds.
- Creation and dissemination of inventory management reports as required.
- Review of excess or obsolete stock on the shop floor and verification of work order integrity.
- Managing Material Review Board (MRB) issues and attending Change Control Board (CCB) meetings.
- Participation in projects and continuous improvement efforts within business units.
- Demand management activities including conducting what-if analyses for demand changes before customer agreements.
- Validation of demand updates and modifications pre- and post-system entry.
- Weekly examination of Master Demand Schedules (MDS) and Master Production Schedules (MPS) to understand capacity and material risks.
- Calling off component materials to align with production plans and inventory policies while adhering to vendor management procedures.
- Collaborating with Engineering to establish product lead times, analyzing constraints, and initiating lead time reduction initiatives.
- Additional duties as assigned by company management.
Quality and Compliance
- Ensuring ongoing conformity with quality standards and industry regulations.
Health and Safety
- Maintaining compliance with applicable health and safety laws and regulations.
Performance Measurement
- Tracking performance based on plant metrics and Management by Objectives (MBO) as part of the annual appraisal process.
Candidate Requirements
- Certification at NFQ Level 6 in Business Administration or a related materials discipline or equivalent experience.
- Membership or progression towards APICS certification or similar professional accreditation.
- Strong communication and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent multitasking and organizational skills.
- Proficient PC skills, especially with Oracle systems and advanced Excel functionalities.
- Effective communication skills for both internal teams and external customers.
- At least three years of relevant experience in electronics or a related industry within planning or materials management.
- Familiarity with materials management computer systems and processes.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing is advantageous.
