Role Overview

The Quality Systems Engineer position is focused on managing and advancing Colloide's digital quality management system using tools like Procore. This involves developing Inspection Test Plan (ITP) libraries, configuring inspection workflows, administering quality checks, producing dashboards and KPI reports, as well as standardizing inspection forms across product lines. The role includes training staff across different sites to ensure consistent system adoption.

In addition to digital quality management, the role entails hands-on quality assurance throughout the entire project lifecycle—from design review and inspection of incoming materials through fabrication, assembly, testing, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). The engineer will work closely with Design, Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, and Production teams to embed quality standards at every step.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in design reviews and configure project-specific ITPs within Procore before production starts.
• Collaborate with Project Managers at project kick-off to incorporate client specifications and quality needs into project schedules.
• Manage inspections for incoming goods, verify material certifications, and oversee supplier Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) processes.
• Conduct in-process inspections throughout fabrication and assembly stages, maintaining quality checkpoints at all workstations.
• Organize and lead Factory Acceptance Tests including client-witnessed inspections with full documentation in Procore.
• Initiate and manage NCRs, perform root cause analyses via methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or FMEA, and ensure corrective actions are executed and verified.
• Support both internal and external audits including ISO 9001 surveillance and inspections by water authorities.
• Develop, maintain, and improve standard ITP templates in Procore applicable to major product categories.
• Configure and manage quality workflows in Procore encompassing inspections, hold points, approvals, observations, defect tracking, and close-out procedures.
• Create digital inspection forms, checklists, and testing records to ensure standardized quality processes across all projects.
• Monitor completion of inspections and testing through Procore dashboards, ensuring quality gates are respected before progressing work.
• Produce digital quality reports and real-time KPI dashboards highlighting inspection statuses, NCR trends, outstanding actions, and overall project quality performance.
• Act as the Procore Quality Management system owner, fostering consistent usage across all business locations and teams.
• Train and support staff continuously on the effective utilization of Procore quality management tools.
• Assist in integrating quality management processes with ERP, document control, and product serialization systems.
• Generate weekly quality reports and live dashboards summarizing inspection progress, quality gates, NCR statuses, and corrective actions.
• Analyze quality data and NCR trends to identify and implement improvements throughout product lines and workflows.
• Contribute to Lean Manufacturing initiatives and drive continuous improvement efforts within the company.

Candidate Requirements

• A degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience in quality engineering or assurance within manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards.
• Experience managing inspections, NCR processes, and performing root cause analysis.
• A systems-thinking approach focused on process design and continual improvement rather than just compliance.
• Strong skills in communication, report creation, and engaging various stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Desirable skills include experience with digital Quality Management Systems or construction/project software such as Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud, knowledge of Inspection & Test Plans, familiarity with water industry quality standards, internal auditor certification (ISO 9001), welding and NDT standards expertise, Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma, ERP system experience, and multi-site engineering exposure.
