Restaurant Utility Worker

Role overview

Zaxbys is hiring a Restaurant Utility Worker to help keep the restaurant clean, safe, and operating smoothly. This role focuses on daily upkeep, deeper cleaning tasks, and basic maintenance across the building and equipment.

What the role involves

• Complete all training required by Zax LLC.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and well-kept restaurant environment.
• Carry out scheduled and unscheduled cleaning tasks and routine basic maintenance.
• Clean and maintain restaurant equipment on a regular basis, including preventative care.
• Inspect equipment, operate tests, and identify issues or malfunctions.
• Handle minor lighting repairs.
• Perform general cleaning work, including deep cleaning and pressure washing inside and outside the location.
• Read and understand equipment manuals and work orders.
• Regularly check grounds, plumbing, electrical fixtures, outlets, kitchen equipment, and the building for preventative maintenance needs.
• Complete basic repairs when needed.
• Follow safety procedures, operating instructions, and other relevant documents.
• Keep maintenance logs accurate, organized, and up to date.
• Follow all standards, policies, and procedures set by Zaxby’s Franchising LLC and Zax LLC.
• Work safely and follow all required safety practices.
• Stay flexible and take on duties beyond the core job when needed.
• Report human resources and risk management issues promptly to the General Manager and District Manager.
• Escalate other concerns to the supervisor when appropriate.
• Support any other tasks needed to keep restaurant operations running properly.

Schedule and work environment

This is an onsite position in Powell, TN. The schedule is flexible and includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Full-time availability is expected for 32 to 40 hours per week; part-time availability is 9 to 28 hours per week.

Eligibility and qualifications

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Applicants should have leadership qualities, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

Physical requirements

• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk continuously.
• Must be able to occasionally stoop, bend, crouch, or climb, including using ladders.
• Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, including overhead lifting.
• Requires continuous use of hands and wrists for grasping and fine motor tasks.
• Must be able to communicate clearly through speech, reading, and writing.
• Requires strong visual and audio awareness to observe the surroundings and respond appropriately.
• Work may be performed indoors and outdoors, with exposure to hot and cold temperatures and food/outdoor allergens.
• Must be able to work safely around restaurant equipment, including knives, fryers, and other potentially hazardous tools and machinery.
