Senior Supply Chain Engineer

Overview

The Senior Supply Chain Engineer, also termed Buyer/Planner IV, is integral to planning and procurement of materials, expense items, and equipment to support manufacturing activities that produce medical devices. This role focuses on ensuring continuous supply and improving key metrics in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity (SQDIP) within the manufacturing environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Liaise with manufacturing teams to guarantee consistent product flow that fulfills quality and delivery expectations.
• Convey daily updates and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Calculate and uphold Kanban order quantities and inventory targets, including auditing processes.
• Address supplier issues such as receiving errors and invoicing disputes, and escalate more complex supply challenges.
• Enhance supplier on-time delivery and minimize line-down shortages.
• Set and work towards inventory reduction goals through detailed analysis and continuous improvement initiatives in inventory management using 5S and visual controls.
• Manage onboarding and integration efforts for new suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing where contracts are not pre-established.
• Support raw material transitions for new product launches and engineering changes.
• Lead and mentor junior buyers to develop their negotiation, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
• Conduct ABC inventory analysis and assist in setting inventory turns targets.
• Perform statistical analysis on historical data to define inventory planning goals and conduct gap analyses to align with ideal company processes.
• Negotiate supplier stocking agreements and lead time reductions.
• Conduct multi-tier supplier risk assessments and collaborate with suppliers to resolve delivery and quality problems at root cause level.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in purchasing and inventory management; medical device manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems is mandatory.
• Certifications such as APICS CSCP, CPIM, or American Purchasing Society CPP are preferred.
• Demonstrated ability in supplier management, development, and negotiation.

Additional Information

This role requires regular attendance and compliance with company policies. Other duties as assigned are expected. The position offers a competitive salary range of $81,000 to $97,000 annually, with the final salary determined individually based on skills, education, experience, and location.
