Rea Adult Services delivers diverse community-oriented programs including day centres, residential care, respite services, community outreach, family support, and multidisciplinary assistance. Services encompass group and individualized support in areas such as supported employment, social enterprises, education, and training. Residential services focus on enabling people to establish valuable social roles and nurture friendships within their communities.

Role Summary

The Social Care Worker position requires innovative, adaptable, and motivated professionals eager to support this vision through flexible, person-centred care. Staff allocation initially starts in one area within Rea Adult Services but may change according to future service demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a key worker offering support and advocacy in all life aspects for adults under care.
• Focus on enhancing individuals' independence and skill development continually.
• Assist in creating and implementing person-centred plans, enabling informed decision-making and potential fulfillment.
• Promote community participation through inclusive, creative strategies, including positive risk-taking.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Team Leader, Service Coordinator, or Area Manager.

Eligibility and Qualifications

• Registration in the Social Care Workers Register managed by the Social Care Workers Registration Board (CORU) or eligibility under Section 91 for registration with proof of application.
• Possession of a full, clean manual driving licence allowing operation of manual transmission vehicles in Ireland is mandatory.
• Potential requirement to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence, with support provided for acquisition.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English is essential.

Experience and Skills Required

• Experience supporting individuals with moderate intellectual disabilities.
• Proven ability to support individuals with emotional dysregulation, challenging behaviours, or mental health concerns.
• Capability to maintain composure and responsiveness during emotional distress episodes.
• Familiarity with implementing positive behaviour support techniques within a person-centred framework.
• Desirable experience in goal-setting and program delivery through person-centred approaches.
• Experience collaborating within teams and occasionally leading shifts.
• Competence in IT skills is essential.
• Demonstrated leadership and networking capabilities to build community links for service users.
• Strong organizational and planning aptitude to facilitate goal achievement.
• Attributes of creativity, initiative, self-drive, adaptability, and sound judgment.
• A commitment to best international practices and interdisciplinary teamwork aligned with person-centred philosophies.
• Excellent listening skills, patience, and a good sense of humour.

Working Conditions

• Permanent full-time post with 78 working hours over a two-week period.
• The position operates on a 14-day duty roster and may include weekend shifts, split duties, public holidays, evening/night shifts, and sleep-in coverage as service demands.
• Flexible working hours support delivery of personalized quality care as per the Corlann model emphasizing Personal Outcome Measures.

Leave and Remuneration

• Annual leave entitlement is 22 days.
• Salary is according to the Department of Health Social Care Worker scale effective June 1, 2026, ranging from €41,260 to €56,717 annually, pro-rated for part-time work.
• After three years at the salary maximum, a long service increment increases pay to €57,789 (pro-rated).
• Additional pay is provided for work performed on weekends, public holidays, and night duties.

Additional Terms

• The position is permanent, full-time, and pensionable.
• A probation period of nine months applies, during which employment may be terminated if performance is unsatisfactory, with possible extension at the employer's discretion.
