Overview
Chesterfield County seeks a Strategy and Performance Coordinator to enhance the County’s capabilities in utilizing data, performance metrics, and analysis to improve planning, budgeting, and management decisions. Building on the County’s strong financial management and data-driven culture, this position will expand capacity for conducting in-depth performance analysis, service evaluations, forecasting, and program assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and improve performance metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), service indicators, and related reporting tools.
- Analyze datasets to uncover trends, risks, service challenges, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop dashboards, scorecards, reports, presentations, and briefing documents for leadership.
- Assess the financial, operational, and service impacts of major projects to inform leadership about costs, benefits, risks, and timelines prior to decision-making.
- Support forecasting efforts, scenario evaluations, and financial reviews covering projected costs, revenues, operational needs, service consequences, and budget implications.
- Assist departments in reviewing program outcomes, workload, demand, efficiency, quality, access, risk, and overall effectiveness.
- Contribute to strategic planning, budget preparation, performance reviews, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Conduct survey analytics, benchmarking, and research to clarify service demands, trends, community needs, and best practices among peers.
- Collaborate with budget analysts, department teams, and leadership to integrate financial, operational, and performance data effectively.
- Undertake other related tasks as assigned.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant is analytical and pragmatic, capable of working directly with departments to handle imperfect data, ask insightful questions, and convey findings simply and clearly. They focus on crafting meaningful, actionable measures rather than adding unnecessary metrics, and bridge the gap between data and operational realities.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, data analytics, statistics, economics, finance, information systems, or a related discipline is required. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of three years’ progressively responsible experience in data analysis, performance measurement, reporting, forecasting, program evaluation, financial analysis, or similar fields; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug test, FBI background check, and education verification. This role is safety sensitive and includes random drug and alcohol testing.
Working Conditions
Position is full-time, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., located onsite in Chesterfield County’s Budget & Management Department in Chesterfield, VA.
Salary
Annual compensation ranges between $72,466 and $97,827.
