Accountant

About the Role

A financial platform based in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) with a 3A license is looking for an experienced accountant. The platform focuses on custody services, global markets execution and trading, along with advisory and asset management for professional and institutional clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including month-end closing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.
• Compile statutory financial reports, regulatory submissions, and monthly management accounts.
• Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities involving journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Ensure adherence to IFRS standards, internal accounting policies, and relevant regulatory obligations.
• Prepare and file VAT, corporate taxation, and any additional tax filings as required.
• Handle reconciliations for bank accounts, client funds, and custody accounts when applicable.
• Administer invoicing procedures, payment processing, and overall cash flow management.
• Maintain records and accounting for fixed assets.
• Coordinate the external audit process annually and act as the point of contact with auditors, regulatory bodies, and service providers.

Qualifications and Skills

• At least five years of experience within the financial industry, with a minimum of two years specifically in a brokerage or financial markets trading environment.
• Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Recognized professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or ACA are preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
• Familiarity with ADGM or DIFC regulatory reporting frameworks is highly advantageous.
• In-depth understanding of Global Market products such as Fixed Income, Equities, FX, and REPOs, with practical accounting experience in these areas.
• Proficient in utilizing technology to enhance accounting processes, including workflow automation and use of relevant accounting and productivity applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, complemented by strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
