API Automation Tester

About the Role

This position is for an API Automation Tester in Hyderabad with Tata Consultancy Services. The role focuses on quality assurance across web, client-server, API, and mobile testing environments, with a strong emphasis on automation, test design, and Agile delivery practices.

What You Will Do

• Work through the full software lifecycle and apply established quality assurance methods and tools.
• Create and maintain test cases, test plans, structured testing approaches, and use cases.
• Carry out both automated and manual testing in web and client-server environments.
• Build test scripts, execute tests, and prepare clear test reports.
• Test APIs using Postman and develop API automation coverage.
• Perform UI automation with Selenium, Cucumber, and BDD-based frameworks.
• Support mobile testing using Appium.
• Test application code components and take part in solution design discussions.
• Follow Agile practices and adhere to US Bank coding and testing policies.
• Write and run unit tests with JUnit and support API-level coverage goals of 90%.
• Assist with debugging and defect resolution when needed.
• Contribute to CI/CD setup and use DevOps tools for automated build, test, and release processes.
• Share insights, recommendations, and feedback during Agile review sessions and show-and-tell cycles.

Skills and Experience Needed

• Hands-on experience in software quality assurance and testing across multiple environments.
• Strong knowledge of test case design, test planning, and structured test methodologies.
• Practical experience in API testing and API test automation.
• Experience with Postman, Selenium, Cucumber, BDD frameworks, and Appium.
• Familiarity with Java, JUnit, and CI/CD workflows.
• Ability to work within Agile teams and follow defined testing and coding standards.
• Understanding of debugging, defect handling, and reporting practices.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing is an added advantage.

Additional Information

Experience with accessibility testing (A11Y) and Appium is preferred and will be considered a plus. The team expects development efforts to achieve about 90% JUnit test coverage at the API level.
