Business Analyst with Python Backend Development Expertise

Role Overview

This position involves collaborating with business stakeholders to collect, analyze, and document critical requirements while translating business demands into structured data models and detailed reporting specifications. The role requires facilitation of discussions and prioritization alignment across investment, risk, and reporting units.

In parallel, the candidate will function as a software developer focused on building and supporting enterprise data ingestion capabilities within a large-scale data platform. The work centers on modernizing legacy data pipelines through scalable architecture and developing robust Python-based backend services that empower investment decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business units to gather and analyze requirements and document them thoroughly.
• Convert business objectives into formal data models and define reporting needs precisely.
• Lead discussions to align priorities among investment, risk management, and reporting groups.
• Create and maintain scalable Python backend services tailored for enterprise data systems.
• Develop modular, clean, and test-driven code following TDD principles.
• Design, implement, and enhance data ingestion pipelines that support operational needs.
• Integrate data from multiple external and internal sources into the enterprise data platform.
• Support routine operations including monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and rapid resolution of production issues.
• Update existing data engineering solutions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Overhaul legacy data pipelines into modern, maintainable frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in data engineering, backend development, and DevOps to ensure smooth deployments.
• Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions, and agile ceremonies to maintain high coding standards.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum five years' experience in backend software engineering focusing on Python programming.
• Excellent proficiency in Python backend development.
• Strong command of SQL and managing large datasets efficiently.
• Competence in writing unit and integration tests with Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodology.
• Familiarity with Python package management tools such as Poetry, Conda, UV, and Pip.
• Experience in supporting production data platforms, including troubleshooting and operational maintenance.

Technical Stack and Tools

• Programming Languages: Python (mandatory), SQL (mandatory)
• Databases: Snowflake, Databricks
• DevOps Tools: Kubernetes, Docker, Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
• Testing Frameworks: PyTest with TDD

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of Snowflake cloud data warehouse.
• Basic to intermediate experience with Databricks platform.
• Exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure.
• Understanding of container orchestration and CI/CD pipelines involving Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience in financial services or regulated industries.
• Familiarity with modern data architectures and cloud-based enterprise data solutions.
