Data Engineer – Smart Utility Metering

Role Overview

MACH CONSULTANTS is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support Smart Utility Metering initiatives in Doha, Qatar. The role focuses on building resilient data platforms, connecting multiple data sources, and maintaining reliable systems that serve analytics, monitoring, and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, build, and support scalable data infrastructure for smart utility metering solutions.
• Develop and operate dependable data pipelines that bring information from varied sources into central metering systems.
• Maintain strong data quality, consistency, uptime, and system performance for analytics and monitoring use cases.
• Design, tune, and manage databases that can process large volumes of utility metering data.
• Handle both streaming/real-time and batch processing workloads.
• Work closely with IT, cybersecurity, and operations stakeholders to keep data transfer secure and dependable across systems.
• Track platform health and quickly troubleshoot pipeline failures, slowdowns, and other operational issues.
• Prepare and update technical documentation covering data architecture, workflows, and operating procedures.
• Follow IT governance, information security controls, and ISO-related standards and requirements.
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning and business continuity arrangements for data platforms.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 9 years of experience in data engineering or a closely related technical discipline is required.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar field is expected.
• Professional certification in cloud or data engineering from AWS, Azure, or GCP will be considered an advantage.

Key Skills

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in designing and developing data pipelines, working with databases, and using big data tools such as Hadoop and Spark. The role also requires strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and system optimization skills, along with solid English communication. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.

This is a full-time onsite role based in Doha, Qatar. The position requires 9 to 12 years of experience, and there are 3 openings available.
