Position Overview
The Electrician Section Lead oversees a team responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems at Al Udeid Air Base. This role requires both hands-on technical expertise and leadership to ensure electrical operations remain mission-ready and fully compliant with all relevant electrical codes and base regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide a team of electricians in daily maintenance and repair tasks.
- Organize and allocate daily assignments to ensure efficient and timely completion of work.
- Perform installation, troubleshooting, and repair of low- and medium-voltage electrical equipment and systems.
- Ensure adherence to NEC, NFPA, OSHA, local regulations, and base-specific safety and quality standards.
- Conduct and review preventive and corrective maintenance inspections and activities.
- Interpret and update electrical diagrams, schematics, and manuals accurately.
- Collaborate with other trades, supervisors, and base officials to coordinate electrical work.
- Promote and enforce strict safety practices including conducting job safety analyses.
- Maintain precise records including work orders, material usage, and maintenance reporting.
- Assist with complex electrical troubleshooting and provide emergency-response support when needed.
- Support audits, inspections, and quality control protocols.
- Ensure proper management and accountability of tools, equipment, and materials.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in electrical system maintenance, repair, and testing.
- Master or Journeyman Electrician License mandatory.
- Ability to read and interpret building blueprints, technical diagrams, and manuals effectively.
- Proficient knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA-40 standards.
- Familiarity with British Electrical Code (BEC) is advantageous.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of electrical safety protocols and power distribution.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing teams within industrial, commercial, or military base settings.
- Proficient in reading complex electrical blueprints and documentation.
- Physically fit to work in harsh outdoor environments and confined spaces.
- Previous experience working on U.S. military or similar overseas installations preferred.
Additional Requirements and Conditions
- Possession of a valid U.S. Driver’s License is required.
- Holding a valid U.S. Passport is preferred.
- Must comply with all USCENTCOM Deployment Policy requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Qatar Residency Visa.
- Capable of working in extreme environments involving dust, heat, and hazardous conditions.
- Prepared to work extended hours and endure challenging weather conditions.
- 100% travel compliance within deployed locations.
- Must obtain and sustain a Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance.
