Experienced Site Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Site Engineer to join our team and uphold our commitment to delivery certainty, technical excellence, and a reputable standard within the industry. The role involves mentoring emerging engineers, fostering team culture, and applying best practices aligned with our standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement company standards and industry best practices to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Support trainee and junior engineers' development, helping them transition into competent site engineers.
• Conduct precise dimensional control activities, selecting and maintaining suitable survey equipment and transferring setting out data accurately.
• Execute as-built surveys, promptly addressing deviations with senior engineers and producing drawings per project specifications.
• Lead quality management by following specifications and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), producing related documentation, handling non-conformance reports, and overseeing subcontractor work.
• Manage materials effectively by understanding their properties, controlling wastage, ensuring compliance with standards, and confirming proper approvals and locations.
• Apply appropriate construction methods with an emphasis on value engineering and minimizing waste.
• Maintain current design information, manage queries regarding missing or conflicting data, and use 3D models or 2D AutoCAD appropriately.
• Comprehend and contribute to temporary works and lifting operations including related roles and responsibilities.
• Participate actively in sustainable development initiatives, aligning with contractual sustainability requirements and corporate social responsibility goals.
• Enforce safety and environmental management by adhering to risk assessments, permits, regulations, and delivering daily work briefings.
• Contribute to commercial and procurement processes by documenting site activities, identifying project changes, and assisting material evaluation and ordering.
• Manage programme and project logistics, supervise workforce and subcontractors, and ensure project quality and schedule adherence.
• Engage in continuous learning and development, fostering growth for self and colleagues, and striving towards professional accreditation.

Candidate Requirements

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional Experience: Minimum five years of site-focused civil engineering or construction experience within the UK environment.
• Certifications: Valid CSCS Card preferred (Management or Professionally Qualified Person card), health and safety qualifications such as First Aid or OSHA are desirable.
• Technical Proficiency: Skilled in total station surveying (especially TS16 Robotic), construction software including CAD, document management (ASite/4Projects), and quality management with Fieldview.
• Communication and Leadership: Strong verbal and written skills to liaise effectively with teams, contractors, and clients; capability to guide junior staff and encourage collaborative teamwork.
• Problem-Solving: adept at promptly diagnosing and resolving site challenges to maintain project momentum.
